Each answer links to a longer guide if you want to go deeper. If your question is not here, call our team at 510-750-7055.
About the Oil
1. What exactly is Red Pine Needle Oil?
It is a concentrated oil steam-distilled from the needles of the Korean red pine, Pinus densiflora. Live Pine's oil is made from wild-crafted, hand-picked needles and is multi-steam-distilled in small batches with no added water, carriers or preservatives. Start with our complete beginner guide.
2. How is it different from the pine oil in cleaning products?
Household pine oil usually comes from pine wood, stumps or turpentine by-products and is not meant to be eaten. Red pine needle oil comes only from the needles of one specific species and is produced to edible-grade standards. Our comparison of pine oils explains the differences in detail.
3. What is in it?
Mainly aromatic monoterpenes such as alpha-pinene, beta-pinene, limonene and camphene, plus esters like bornyl acetate. Pine needles are also known as a source of shikimic acid. Read our guides to pine terpenes and shikimic acid.
4. Why is Korean red pine special?
The red pine has been part of Korean food, culture and herbal tradition for centuries and is a traditional symbol of longevity. Discover the story in Korean Red Pine: A Symbol of Longevity. Sourcing also matters; see why wild-crafted sourcing matters.

Using the Oil
5. How many drops should I take?
Our label suggests starting with 4 to 5 drops under the tongue, with the option to double after two weeks. Many beginners start with just 1 or 2 drops. Never exceed the label amount. See how to take Red Pine Needle Oil for a step-by-step routine.
6. It tastes very strong. Is that normal?
Yes. A pure needle oil with no fillers has an intense, resinous flavour. Try placing the drops on a spoon of raw honey, taking them with food, or switching to capsules.
7. Should I choose liquid or capsules?
The liquid offers flexible dosing and multiple uses (internal, diffuser, diluted topical). Capsules are tasteless and travel-friendly. Compare them in capsules vs liquid drops. Options include the 2oz liquid and 120-count veggie capsules.
8. What time of day is best?
There is no single best time. Most customers link it to breakfast so they do not forget, as part of a healthy morning routine.
9. Can I use it in a diffuser?
Yes. Add 3 to 5 drops to a water-based diffuser and run it for 20 to 30 minutes in a ventilated room. Read our essential oil safety guide first, especially if you have children.
10. Can I put it on my skin?
Only diluted in a carrier oil, and after a patch test. Never apply it undiluted to the face or near the eyes. People with eczema should avoid fragranced oils on the skin; see dry skin and eczema care.
Storage and Care
11. Why should I not leave the dropper on the bottle?
The dropper has a natural rubber bulb, and concentrated pine oil slowly breaks rubber down, which can leach into the oil. Measure with the dropper, close the bottle with its original cap, then rinse and store the dropper separately.
12. How long does a bottle last, and how should I store it?
A 2oz bottle holds roughly 240 servings. Keep it tightly capped in a cool, dark place, away from heat and sunlight. Full details are in how to store pine needle oil.
Safety
13. Can I take it during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
No. Our label states that Korean red pine oil is not intended for pregnant or nursing women, or those who may become pregnant.
14. Can I give it to my pets?
Animals, especially cats, process essential oils very differently from people. Do not give pine needle oil to pets without your veterinarian's advice. Read pets and essential oils.
15. Can I take it with my medications?
If you take prescription medicine, have a chronic health condition, or are scheduled for surgery, check with your doctor or pharmacist before internal use. Tell your healthcare team about every supplement you use, including natural products.
Beyond the Oil
Red pine comes in other forms too. Many customers enjoy caffeine-free pine needle tea (see our brewing guide), the fresh aroma of Red Pine Room Spray (see 12 ways to use it), and Natural Pine Soap. You can also cook with pine; try our Korean pine recipes.
What Results Should I Expect?
Experiences vary widely from person to person. Some customers share remarkable personal stories, which we value, but they are individual experiences rather than clinical evidence. Think of red pine as one part of a healthy lifestyle built on real food, sleep, movement, time outdoors and good relationships, the foundations described in our daily longevity routine. Our earlier articles Importance of Pine Oil and Pine Needle Oil for Immune System Support offer more background.
